The EMHD produce a quarterly newsletter detailing the activities of the MED Board as well as new pieces of research and documentation. To get involved, either by contributing or signing up to the mailing list please contact health@imeche.org
EMHD Board
The EMHD Board members include company directors, distinguished professors, senior engineers and managers, and consultants, who organise and lead events arising from the latest research developments.
Technical Activity Committees
In order to better develop Engineering in Medicine and Health, a number of Technical Activity Committees (TACs) have been formed to focus on events in specific areas.
The following TACs have been formed:
- INCONTINENCE – Chairman Alan Cottenden
- ORTHOPAEDICS – Chairman Mark Taylor
- REHAB AND THERAPEUTICS – Chairman Mike Hillman
- SPORTS ENGINEERING - Interim Chairman Anthony Bull
- VASCULAR – Chairman Spencer Sherwin
- DIAGNOSTICS AND SENSING – Chairman Brian Davies
- AGEING TAC – Chairman Garth Johnson
- ROBOTICS TAC – Chairman Patrick Finlay

Events
The EMHD Board runs a series of exciting events, examining key areas of concern and research. Major regular international conferences include orthopaedics and incontinence.

05 October: Nanotechnology in Medicine and Biotechnology
03 November: Robotics in Surgery: State of the Art
Student Project Competition
Every year the EMHD Board organises a Student Project Competition, giving entrants the chance to win up to £750.
This is part of the Medical Extravaganza that also includes the prestigious Smith & Nephew lecture and Chairman’s Dinner.

Journal
The EMHD support both the hugely successful ‘Journal of Engineering in Medicine’ and the brand new ‘Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology’.
