Thatcher Brothers Prize


The Thatcher Brothers Prize (Serial 223) is funded from The General Fund.

Trust Conditions:

A Bequest of £1,000 under the Will of the late Arthur John Thatcher, Fellow, who died on 3 September 1980 (aged 89). Automobile Engineer ("Mendip" Car) and Draughtsman (Aircraft), Member IAE 1947.

To create a Prize Fund to be known as "The Thatcher Bros. Bequest" from which a Prize to be known as the "Thatcher Bros. Prize" should be awarded on such terms as the Institution shall prescribe (subject to the terms of the General Trust of which this Fund forms part).

Award Conditions:

A prize to be awarded for the best paper on a manufacturing industries mechanical engineering subject published by the Institution in the previous year or for a contribution or for achievement in that field.
