Patrick Kniveton
Patrick Kniveton is head of business management, operations, engineering and technology, based at Rolls-Royce in Derby. His job combines responsibility for the financial control of the business unit, which employs 300 people, with ensuring that the right engineering resources are in the right place at the right time to produce the required components for the products manufactured by the company. He is both a Chartered Manager and Chartered Engineer and is currently Vice President of IMechE. In fact it was a recommendation made by him to IMechE's management group a number of years ago that has led to the new partnership between this organisation and the Chartered Management Institute.
"Engineers branching out into general management need a whole raft of new skills and the Chartered Management Institute has the resources there to help. I recommended the idea of working with the Institute even before I became a Chartered Manager. Although I have not subsequently been involved in the development of this initiative, I think it is a good match and a natural progression for the two organisations to work more closely together."
