Chartered Environmentalist

Members of IMechE can now apply for registration as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and gain recognition for their demonstration of and commitment to, sustainable environmental management and development. 

About the Group

The Energy, Environment & Sustainability Group evolved from what was the Environmental and Safety Engineering Group in 2001. It currently has approximately 17,300 IMechE members who have a registered interest in these areas.

The Group is represented by a Board of 25 members who have expertise in each of the three areas and meets four times a year. It serves the wider membership by organising relevant seminars and conferences (  RSS feed ), and represents members’ views in the responses it gives to Government consultation papers; additionally some Board members regularly attend the meetings of national and international committees to raise the profile of energy, environment and sustainability issues.
