How do I Find an Adjudicator?

An adjudicator, a panel of adjudicators or an Adjudicator Nominating Body may be named in a contract, or the parties may agree a suitable person to act as an adjudicator. Where the person or body is named you must contact them to see if they are prepared to act. If it does not, or the person named declines to act, then you may contact the Institution of Mechanical Engineers who acts as an official Adjudicator Nominating Body.

The Institution maintains a list of trained and experienced adjudicators, who are capable of resolving disputes in the engineering and construction industries. The Institution’s adjudicators are Chartered Engineers, who have undertaken further rigorous training in the procedures and practices of adjudication.

The Institution will normally appoint an adjudicator within 24 hours of a request being made, and it is not unusual for the adjudicator to contact the parties on the same day he is appointed.
