The William Sweet Smith Prize (Serial 234) is funded from The General Trust Fund.
Trust Conditions:
A Bequest of £69,678 in the Will of the late William Sweet Smith, Member (AM) 1938. Born 4 March 1902, died 12 October 1981 (aged 79). Marine Surveyor, latterly in Hong Kong. For some time lecturer in Marine Engineering at University of Southampton (1946 - ). Educated at South Shields. Served as Ship's Engineer with Moore Line and China Navigation Company.
Award Conditions:
A prize to be awarded by the Aerospace Industries Division Board for the best paper on an aerospace subject published by the Institution in the previous year or for a contribution or for achievement in that field.
