Overview

**Extra places now available** In the early 1990’s the government set a target for CHP generation of 10GW by 2010. During the mid to late 1990’s, with low gas prices and electricity prices set by the pooling and settlement agreement, CHP flourished with schemes ranging from sub-100kW to many hundred’s of MW. With the advent of NETA, CHP developments stopped virtually overnight and in many cases existing CHP plants became uneconomical to run and were mothballed. However, with increases in gas and electricity prices over recent years and the expectation that this will continue, together with support from both Levy Exemption Certificates (LECs) and EU ETS carbon allowances for new entrant plant, many organisations are reviewing whether CHP may again be an economically viable technology to help them manage their exposure to high and volatile energy prices, comply with their Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) increasingly stringent regulation, including planning regulations, and requirements to demonstrate high standards of Corporate Social Responsibility. This seminar will address a range of current issues: * CHP technologies – gas turbines, micro-turbines, engines, fuel cells, boilers * Feasibility assessments and Economics and financing of CHP * CHP design for flexibility and integration with renewables and tri-generation * CHP in community energy schemes and district heating * Energy Services Companies (ESCos) * Operations and maintenance strategies * Domestic CHP and barriers to uptake The programme for this event can be found by following the link on the left hand side of this page.
