The Thomas Lowe Gray lecture is organised by the Power Industries Division and is open to all. Presented by Hazel Broatch, Chief Executive, Bridge Across the Bay Ltd
A bridge across Morecambe Bay was first suggested by George Stephenson in 1834. The 12 mile long bridge would open up the Furness Peninsula and the West Coast of Cumbria whilst generating power from renewable energy sources.
The technical, engineering, economic and environmental aspects of this proposal will be discussed including the environmental impact on Morecambe Bay, the engineering problems associated with the construction of the bridge, the renewable energy that can be harnessed and the economic regeneration of Barrow, the Cumbrian West Cost, and Morecambe.
This event will commence at 18.00 and refreshments will be available from 17:30
