2007 in review
2007 was a year of change for the Institution. Responding to a consultation with more than 40,000 members, we introduced a new Vision and four key themes to drive our activities in the years ahead.
In the Regions, a full review of our activities led to a new regional business plan. This plan aims to reflect our new Vision while strengthening the role of engineers and the profile of IMechE nationally and overseas.
The introduction of Engineering Technicians (EngTech) into our membership continued our commitment to make the IMechE more inclusive. Allowing EngTech members the same rights as corporate members also demonstrated that we value all individuals involved in engineering, regardless of their professional registration.
Our flagship events also went from strength to strength in 2007. The Manufacturing Excellence Awards celebrated 25 years of showcasing the UK’s top manufacturers, while Formula Student enjoyed a successful move to Silverstone.
