Presidents Apprentice

We are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the President’s Apprentice Scheme 2010-11, which will be running with the support of IMechE President elect John Wood.

Two successful applicants will accompany and work with the President in a range of activities including industrial visits, prize-giving ceremonies and prestigious dinners, and can expect to have many valuable networking opportunities.

The President’s Apprentice Scheme has proved to be a great success, with all apprentices experiencing a variety of opportunities alongside the President.  These range from attending the Institution's Annual Dinner, a prestigious event offering the chance to network with industry leaders, attending lectures by distinguished speakers, to taking part in training and conferences.

Not only are the President's Apprentices gaining invaluable experience through meeting influential engineers and continually expanding their knowledge, others are learning from them too.  The Apprentices are in a unique position to gain an overview of the whole Institution and use this to benefit members, especially fellow Young Members.

Apprentices are able to give the perspective of Young Members in environments they are not usually involved in.  Apprentices are valued for their fresh perspectives and are encouraged to express this.

For more information on the 2010-11 Scheme, please click here.

Applicants must complete an application form, provide a CV and short reference from their employer, and submit 500 words on the theme 'How, as an engineer, do you reconcile the desire for personal mobility with concerns for the environment and climate change? What opportunities do you think this might present for British industry?'

An application form can be found here.  Please send all documents to m_wheeler@imeche.org.  The closing date for applications is Friday 9th April.
